Marvel Universe Fan Blog 2: Iron Man 3 and Thor 2

Iron Man 3 and Thor 2

Hello again and welcome to the second Marvel Universe Fan Blog! Last time I wrote about Iron Man 3, today I have some more information on Iron Man 3 today. Plus I have some news for Thor: The Dark World. So last time I mostly talked about the new Iron Man suits and characters from Iron Man 3. I wanted to start of with the topic of Extremis, the formula that makes you super-human. A few days ago, Marvel.com posted a video explaining Extremis and what it does. We also got a closer look at the Mandarin's army. You know, instead of me talking about the video let me just show it to you.

The Mandarin's army might just be more powerful than I originally thought. Hopefully all this power provides some stunning and awesome action scenes. All the Iron Man 3 trailers seem to prove that this film is going to leave some great results. The first Iron Man movie was the beginning of Iron Man and we saw the Mark 1, 2, and 3. In The Avengers we saw the Mark 7. And in Iron Man 3, Tony Stark's has reached a total of 42 suits. (wow) And each suit is unique and there have been many different variants from the first three suits. Marvel has only shown several of the new suits (see last previous blog entry) and hopefully we'll get to see the rest in Iron Man 3. Beside Tony's improvement in his Iron Man suits, we'll also see improvement in his technology. For example, his awesome hologram tech and his many methods of getting an Iron Man suit on and off. In the first Iron Man film there was a big clunky machine that took the suit off of Tony but there were some difficulties. In The Avengers, Tony Stark had a machine built on Stark Tower which got his suit off quickly and efficiently. And in Iron Man 3, Tony Stark has found a way to assemble the Mark 42 by calling separate pieces of the suit as seen in the trailer. Tony can also send a command for the Mark 42 to assemble on to someone other than himself and in this case it's Pepper, also seen in the trailers. Now I wanted to talk a little about the plane scene as seen in the trailers. In the trailer thirteen passengers get thrown of the plane because of an explosion. When Tony Stark tries to rescue them J.A.R.V.I.S. (Just A Rather Intelligent System) tells Tony he can only save four of them. Now, in this scene, you might of expected them to do this on a green screen. But we all know Marvel, they always try to bring the best quality they can to a movie. So they did this seen for-real. The Iron Man 3 crew first did some test shots on this scene and when they saw how awesome it looked they decided to go ahead film it. They re-shot the same scene sixty-two times with hidden parachutes and got some amazing results. This scene is probably going to be one of the best and most memorable scene of the movie.
The world premier of Iron Man 3 was just yesterday and it seemed everyone there had a good time. If you missed out you can watch a video from the event in this link:http://marvel.com/ironman3live  The excitement is really growing for the ones who haven't seen Iron Man 3 yet, me included. As well as Thor: The Dark World. In fact, a trailer for the second Thor movie has just been released recently. And of course you want to see it if you haven't yet. Well no worries, here it is:
Thor: The Dark World will be released November 8, 2013. As seen in the preview, Jane Foster is taken to Asgard, and rather suddenly I might add. You also saw this guy in the preview if you looked closely:
That is none other than Malekith the "Dark Elf". He's also been seen in a recent TV show called The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
Malekith is one of the villains in the movie but I don't believe he is the main villain. Marvel.com's synopsis states that "Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos...but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand."  So from what I understand, there is something even more powerful than Malekith and his ancient army. It will be great, I think, to see some bad-guys go against Thor other than Loki. Also Sif will be in Thor: The Dark World, as seen in the trailer. Hopefully we will also see the Warriors Three again and see some more action from them. Odin, Thor's father, will be in it of course. I do not know about Eric Selvig though. I haven't heard anything about him so we'll see. Oh yes, Loki was in the trailer. This is the part I'm most excited to see. I always liked seeing Loki and Thor together as brothers like in the animated movie Thor: Tales of Asgard. But we never really saw their relationship in the first Thor movie. I'm wondering if we'll actually see Thor and Loki fight together in Thor: The Dark World since Thor had came to Loki for help. (And what happened to Loki's hair?!) So we'll see. Before I sign off, I wanted to go over the upcoming Marvel movies. So Iron Man 3 is coming out in just eight days and Thor: The Dark World will be released November 8, 2013. The Wolverine, a sequel to X-men Origins: Wolverine, will come out July 26, 2013. A sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man will be released May 2, 2014. Rhino and Electro are going to be the bad-guys for this sequel. Captain America: The Winter Solider (Bucky's alive!!! YAY!) will come out April 4, 2014. Guardians of the Galaxy will be released August 1, 2014. And The Avengers sequel will be released sometime next year. X-men Days of Future Past will be released July 14, 2014. Wow, busy year...or years. I hope I didn't miss any movies. OK then, I hope you all enjoyed! I'm going to take a break from blogging just for the weekend but hopefully I'll get the next M.U.F.B. (Marvel Universe Fan Blog) posted by 29. Next time I'll talk more about these upcoming movies and I've been wanting to talk about upcoming Marvel video games so make sure you check in Tuesday! OK then, thanks for reading and- Oh yes! Just remembered, here's a recent TV spot from Iron Man 3. (My favourite one yet) Enjoy and see you next time!

Marvel Universe Fan Blog 1: Iron Man 3

April 23, Tuesday   Iron Man 3 and Upcoming Movies

Welcome to the first Marvel Universe Fan Blog entry! This blog is all about the Marvel Universe and looking at it from a fans point of view. I will mostly write about Marvel movies and video games. In the first couple of entries I will mostly be writing about the upcoming movie: Iron Man 3 which comes out May 3, just ten days away. Iron Man 3 is the continued story after the first Iron Man movies and The Avengers(2012). Marvel has already gave a lot of information on Iron Man 3 on their website. (Marvel.com) As well as conversations with the actors. In the movie we'll get to see new Iron Man armours and some of Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) new and updated technology. Plus we'll get to see James Rhodes, or Rhodey, (Don Cheadle) in his new Iron Man armour: Iron Patriot. As well as the Mandarin(Ben Kingsley) who will be the villain in Iron Man 3. It is possible we'll see Bruce Banner again, not as the Hulk but just Bruce Banner. It's possible but I can't confirm it. If Bruce Banner is going to be in it, I hope he will be played by Mark Ruffalo. There has also been a rumour that Iron Man 3 might be linked to the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy. The rumour says that at the end of Iron Man 3, Iron Man will fly into space and supposedly meet the Guardians of the Galaxy. But since no actors have been announced for Guardians of the Galaxy, it's likely the rumour is not true. Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) will also be getting some action. In a clip from Marvel.com, Pepper is put into the Mark 42 suit to protect when Stark's mansion is being attacked. It hasn't been the first time though, in the comics Pepper has here own suit named "Rescue". But as I said, Pepper will be in the Mark 42 armour not Rescue. In addition to the Mark 42 armour there will be many other new Iron Man suits. For example the Mark 17 or "Heartbreaker". (Below: Mark 17 Artillery Level RT Suit, "Hearbreaker")
It is a pretty impressive suit and it will be exciting to see it in action. The Mark 17 is slightly different from the suits we've seen in Iron Man 1 and 2 and looks more heavy-duty. Another new Iron Man suit we'll see in Iron Man 3 is the Mark 33 aka "Silver Centurion", as seen in the comics. (Below: Mark 33, Enhanced Energy Suit, "Silver Centurion")
It's quite similar to the comic version and hopefully it will get some cool action scenes. Next is the Mark 35 aka "Red Snapper". (Below: Mark 35, Disaster Rescue Suit, "Red Snapper")
It looks strongly built and very powerful. According to Marvel.com, it is a disaster rescue suit. It's quite different than the other Iron Man suits, especially the arc reactor and the face-plate. Next is the Mark 39 aka "Gemini". (Below: Mark 39, Sub Orbital Suit, "Gemini")
I've seen photos of this suit in space and it's been said that if at the end Iron Man 3 (if the Guardians of the Galaxy rumour is true) this will be suit Tony Stark takes into space. If the rumour is true. Next is the Mark 40 aka "Shotgun". (Below: Mark 40, Hyper Velocity Suit, "Shotgun")

The Mark 40 is one of my personal favourites. (which is why there is two photos) There is big difference in this suit than the others and looks as if built for speed. And lastly the Mark 38 aka "Igor". (Below: Mark 38, Heavy Lifting Suit, "Igor")
A lot of people thought the Mark 38 was the Hulk-Buster suit, but the Mark 38 is nicknamed "Igor". I also highly doubt Tony Stark would build a Hulk-Buster suit after he worked with Bruce Banner in The Avengers. So that is all the armours I got off of Marvel.com but I'm sure there is many more. And speaking of suits Rhodey, as seen in the previews, becomes the Iron Patriot. The Iron Patriot is a unique suit painted red, white, and blue.
Plus we'll see newer characters like Aldrich Killian (Guy Pierce) and Maya Hansen. (Rebecca Hall)
 Aldrich Killian (Guy Pierce)
Maya Hansen (Rebecca Hall)
In the film Maya Hansen creates a formula called Extremis. Basically what Extremis does is make you super-human. It's been said that the Mandarin's army has been injected with Extremis. Which might explain why they sort of "glow", if you've seen the trailer.
I don't know if it's just me, but they look like tough opponents and Iron Man might just need help from Iron Patriot. Not much has been said about the Mandarin's army and there hasn't been that much of them in the trailers either. Previously I thought the Mandarin would have an army similar to the one in the TV show, Iron Man Armoured Adventures. Hopefully these guys in the movie will be tough to beat so we will get to see some good action scenes. But all stories have to have some sort of second-in-command. It's possible Aldrich Killian might I be that person but I cannot be completely sure. This theory of mine came from an Iron Man 3 LEGO set where War Machine and Iron Man are fighting Killian and he looked as if he had been injected with Extremis. This might also be that situation where Killian likes Pepper but she's in love with Tony Stark, so Killian joins the Mandarin to seek revenge on Tony and so forth. This might not be the case, it's just one of my many theories. So I've already given you a good handful of information and I'm sure there's a lot more for me to discuss about. As Robert Downey Jr. stated, Iron Man 3 will probaly the best movie out of all three Iron Man movies. I can tell from the previews that Iron Man 3 will be more about of Tony Stark's life and his relationships with Rhodey and Pepper. And of course there will be new Iron Man suits which means more action. I'm also looking forward to seeing how Tony Stark's suits and technology have improved. Kevin Fiege, a producer on the film, has talked about what we'll see in the movie and more.
(spoiler alert!) We like painting Tony into a corner and taking away all of his toys and all of the immense wealth and assets and leave him with just his mind and see how he can get out of that situation. You’ve seen in the trailers that there’s an attack on Tony’s house. So by the end of the first act of “Iron Man 3,” his house is gone. His technology is gone. All he has is a barely functioning prototype suit that, soon after he escapes from the house that’s destroyed, is not functioning at all. So Tony finds himself in the middle of the United States of America, in Rose Hill, Tennessee, completely out of his element. A guy who lives in Malibu and goes to Monaco and gallivants in Manhattan in the middle of Rose Hill, Tennessee, with a suit not working, doing an investigation about the villain known as the Mandarin, to try to figure out where he is.  Tony believes there are clues here that are going to lead him to find where the Mandarin is, so he drags the broken suit into a shed that he finds and takes an axe and opens it up. It turns out that he is in the little workshop of this young boy named Harley.

(You can read more at: http://marvel.com/news/story/20336/iron_man_3_under_the_armor_with_kevin_feige#ixzz2RMAWIzlR) So that's all for Iron Man 3 but there will be more in the next blog. After Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World will be released in November  Captain America: The Winter Solider  Guardians of the Galaxy, The Avengers 2, and Ant-Man will all be released in 2014. In the next blog I'll write more about Thor: The Dark World, but for now here's the trailer for Thor: The Dark World:

So I hope you all enjoyed this entry, I know it's a bit rusty since this is the first entry but I'll get the hang of it. In the next Marvel Universe Fan Blog I will be writing more on Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World. I will usually do a MUFB (Marvel Universe Fan Blog) every week but since Iron Man 3 is only ten days away I will try to do it every three days or so. I hope you enjoyed and please read the next Marvel Universe Fan Blog! Thanks for reading.
